Hot, fresh, and made to order steamed rice rolls! And so cheap, you can get an order for less than $2! 'Fresh Shrimp': I love how thin the rice roll sheet is, it has a soft but chewy and bouncy texture. There are also different add in options, I opted for this one which comes with a couple chunks of shrimp. Make sure to get it with all the sauces, soy sauce and hot sauce! For sizes, they offer small and large, I got the small and I think it was a good portion size. There was a bit of a line that formed when we went and since there were only two people running the cart and making each order, expect a wait!

The best rice roll I've had in NYC. Got the fresh shrimp, loved the texture and flavor. Definitely recommend and will be back whenever in the area!

4.5/5 for me but rounding up because props to the affordable yet still tasty Chinatown gems out there. The Cheong Fun Cart is a small, unassuming cart that is order and pickup/takeaway. I stumbled upon it almost by accident walking by it and knew I had to try it after a good friend raving about it. The woman taking orders and preparing food was quick and efficient. I ordered the small beef and the large fresh shrimp rice noodle rolls. The food itself definitely is best when freshly prepared, but it was still good even after waiting to enjoy at home ~half an hour later. Simple yet tasty and nice portion, perfect with the slightly sweet soy sauce and chili sauce.

For the price, this cheong fun cart is unbeatable! I came on a weekend afternoon and it was quite busy. I waited on line for about 15-20 minutes and it moved pretty quickly too so it wasn't a bad wait. The prices are super reasonable ranging from $1.75 to $7 and you can also add an egg for 75 cents. I ended up getting the BBQ pork for only $2.50 for a small, $5 for a large. But even the small was decently sized. I actually wish I got a large after I started digging in! The rice rolls are freshly made to order by the two aunties in the cart and it certainly tastes super fresh. The texture of the rice rolls were perfect - chewy and bouncy yet still silky smooth. They top it off with some green onions, soy sauce and a spicy sauce and it really soaks into the rice rolls. I actually wish there was more sauce and I should've asked them to add more before I left (a reminder for next time)! They also give a good amount of the roast pork, which was a nice surprise cause I was actually expecting less. Keep in mind that it's cash only and even though the aunties are primarily Chinese, they understand the menu so telling them know what you want in English isn't difficult at all.

Good for what it is. Big portion for the cost. Dish ($10.50 total): 1) large beef rice noodle roll: noodles were delicious with perfect texture but the beef was unseasoned. Could use a bit more flavor. Soy sauce was good. 2) large fresh shrimp rice noodle roll: again, noodles were perfect. Shrimp was good but a little sparse. The soy sauce had an herbal flavor that I would pass on. Would skip this shrimp rice roll. *plastic fork and napkin provided Logistics: -takeout only but there's a park nearby that you can sit and eat at -cash only

Really tasty and super fresh rice rolls! There's normally a line, so be prepared to wait a bit. The value is great- most rice rolls are around $2-3 for small and $3-7 for a large depending on which toppings you get. Egg is $0.75 extra. The cheung fun themselves are chewy and soft, with a modest amount of topping/filling. The rice noodles perfectly absorb the soy sauce and hot sauce topping (definitely get it spicy!). They do understand English, but definitely easier to order in canto/mandarin. Cash only! The size of the portion has gone down a bit recently, the large used to be in a bigger rectangular container and now it's in a smaller circular one. With that being said- it is still an amazing deal- definitely worth it especially if the line is short.

TAKE OUT & CASH ONLY - This tiny stand had the longest line I've stood in by far my entire trip. Due to influencers highlighting them, they've basically the go to stop in Chinatown. The hot sauce and green onions is a must. Best eaten ASAP when it's still fresh. The noodles were silky soft and absorbed all of that umami sauce.

I walked by this rice roll stand and saw a line so I had to give it a try. We tried the egg and scallion, shrimp, and beef rice rolls. The flavors were really good and the texture was perfect. They have two sizes but I would opt for a small because it's a lot of food! They only had sriracha as a sauce so I would likely choose another rice roll spot since I typically like my rice rolls with a peanut sauce.

If you're looking for something to eat early in the day around Chinatown, I can't recommend Cheong Fun Cart enough. They serve rice noodle rolls filled with your protein of choice (chicken, pork, shrimp, etc) with an option of an added egg and hot sauce (the hot sauce is basically Sambal). Get the egg and hot sauce!!! The roll is covered with a soy sauce-based sauce and green onions. You can get small or large. This place is cash only, so make sure to bring some. That said, a small is $1.50 and a large is $3.00 so it's not going to put a big dent in your cash if you need it for other things. There's usually a line but it moves fast. I got pork with egg and hot sauce and my wife got shrimp with egg. We both loved our food, though my wife wishes she had gotten the hot sauce. The noodles are so chewy and it's obvious they handmake them.
